In order to realize affluent society, it is necessary to improve social infrastuctures that support people's life and production activities. Social infrastructures include transportation facilities, such as roads, railways, harbours and airports, disaster prevention and reduction facilities, such as dams and river banks, and environmental facilities such as disposal systems. Parks, schools, water supply systems, water drainage systems and structures for power transmission are also included in such infrastructures.

Civil Engineering is a professional engineering discipline that deals with the theories and technologies which are used for planning, design, construction and management of infrastructures implemented by public works. Our Department offers BE, ME and DE degree programs in civil and environmental engineering. The curriculum of our department covers all aspects of civil engineering (structures, concrete, hydraulic, hydrologic and coastal, geotechnical, environmental, planning and design systems, political simulation, social risk engineering).
